Its all about relational asthetitcs. i take a picture of something, for face value.other poeple make a picture with surplus value.
History, like in the case of Noam Chomsky, diverts, most of the time, from the path that knowledge lays down for it. counter surveillance, and anti government from a thoughtfull an inspiring point of view often outweigh factual events and theories that came before or lie behind them by the same exact poeple.

Vegan Photographic Film

Art. 2010
Foliage. 2010

once i had this dream. i would go out with my 4X5, shoot some stuff and come back to my lab, develop all the film, scan it and print it or maybe contact it. this would be just like a digital camera but with film in it instead and i will have full movements. so then i went out and did it. the more complex thing to do was the same thing but with 35mm as it takes more time to shoot so many pictures before you can unload the roll and develop it.
now all of those things are a reality. here it is then. art and fall from the other day, here today.

RISD - Why am i in grad school?

some questions are not real questions demanding an answer, but rather are designed to evoke some emotional response, or a thought process. so why am i in grad school? not a very good question. mostly since there has already been a pledged investment of about 100K $ in it. does it have any more meaning then that? does it even need more then that? if there is some kind of purpose based on advancement of any kind i have not seen it yet. even if i wanted to learn how to be an american, or an american artist, how to behave in a strongly political motivated society, this would not be the place to learn. if i wanted to learn about photography i should have stayed with the good old Dr. Langford. all too bad he is dead and Joel Sternfeld has nothing to do with photography anymore.
Why are you in grad school? what have you learn? in a pile, put it down and show me all you have learned and what you assume to accomplish with it.

Veterans Day Parade Boston 2010

a few weeks after we moved to boston we decided to get the boston globe delivered daily to our home.
this for me was in a way a reaction to the big information deficit i had experienced since i stopped reading israeli news online, something i have been trying to do even before we left israel. so what do you do in the morning, if there is no newspaper, or online news to read? the book i am reading (on its a rarity thing) is not suited for all hours and moods of the day and so among other reasons we got the globe. the globe is not the best newspaper, and having early work or school hours meant i did not have time to even go through the front page and tess for some reason did not take much interest in it either (there should be a separate post about how the boston globe is a really boring newspaper with awful printing...) and it would be just left in tis bag or not even brought upstairs.
in the wake of the transition, tess had helped me open a facebook business account for a project i am trying to run. this led to the facebook page being open constantly on my browser as it was an important contact with clients. this business aspect of it faded soon thereafter. it was now just open and i would go over the latest post of the "friends" of my business. spending time to actually look at what poeple do there and follow links, spy on the occasional friend i have not heard from in years and your average voyeurism. but the truth is that i fucking hate it. i dont want to be a part of it, i never did, and today i realized that i was participating in it just as if i was really a person there.
i closed the facebook tab.
fuck, i am such a looser.
